Thanks Mark. I agree those can be simple strategies every church can use to move towards interactive learning, and a good direction for churches to move.

My husband and I are writing a book called “Church in a Circle”, calling churches to turn their passive audiences into facilitated learning communities, based on work we are currently involved in. I’m a fan of the star shape arrangement. Or octagonal. . . . Just kidding–I totally agree with your getting creative with seating arrangements, not just for discipleship, but for breaking age or racial or other barriers down.

Thanks for jumping in here Kathleen. Sometimes adding a “turn to the person next to you” and a “pull your chairs into groups of 3 or 4 and talk about these two questions” is enough to move things in a better direction.
