I get asked a particular set of questions all the time.

  • Our adult Sunday School attendance has been flat for many years.  How can we encourage more of our unconnected adults to join a class?
  • We’ve been stuck at 8 or 9 small groups for 4 years because we don’t have enough leaders.  Where can we find new leaders?
  • “We want to connect the other 60% of our adults in a class or a small group, but how can we do that without disrupting what we have already?”

I think we all know what we need to do, don’t we?  We’ve asked and re-asked the questions.  We’ve done the reading.  We’ve gone to the conferences.

We may not be like the men of Issachar, but we’ve understood the times for the most part.  It’s just hard to bring ourselves to do it, because deep down we struggle with the same thing as Steve Martin’s character in The Man with Two Brains:
