Planning a church-wide campaign for 2020? If you’re thinking about fall, 2020, you’ve still got plenty of time. If you’re thinking about post Easter…it’s time to decide!  See also, When Is the Best Time to Launch a Church-Wide Campaign.

While choosing the best church-wide campaigns is certainly subjective, I’ve made these selections with over 15 years experience leading churches through the process of choosing, designing and launching powerful and trajectory altering church-wide campaigns. Here are my picks for the Top 5 campaigns for 2020:

Before we get started, a small disclaimer. I choose campaigns for this list based on 2 simple criteria: (1) They must be on a topic that unconnected people care about, and (2) The group material must be video-driven and easy to lead.

Now, here's my list:

Launching in February of 2020, Time to Dream: Open Doors To Your Future is the newest campaign from Rick Warren and Saddleback Church. Time to Dream is 6 week message series accompanied by a 6 session DVD-driven study, featuring the teaching of Rick Warren. Like all of Saddleback’s campaigns, this one is the complete package and is a true church-wide campaign with material for the whole family.

If you're on the lookout for a church-wide campaign, Time to Dream is one you need to consider. The topic is very appealing (makes sense to the already connected and unconnected alike). The topic is also very "cross-cultural". Everyone wants a better future; a better tomorrow. The promise of Time to Dream is a good one. You can read my full review right here.

Launched at Saddleback in fall, 2017,  40 Days of Prayer is a 6 session DVD-driven study that accompanies a 6 week message series.

The 40 Days of Prayer campaign is fully loaded!  And I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more perfectly timed campaign. Has there ever been a time when longtime church members and their neighbors would be more open to learning how to pray?  I found myself thinking about when I’ll be using it and what it will mean to our congregation (even into the crowd and community with the right strategy), and I am really looking forward to this one!  I’m thinking it’s right on target!

transformed 3DVD-driven, Transformed is a 7 session study that accompanies a 7 week message series.  Although this campaign launched in 2014, this is a potent theme and should be on your radar.   Anchored in the apostle Paul’s profound truth in Romans 12:2, this campaign will guide and grow your church by exploring what the Bible has to say about every essential area of our lives: Spiritual, Physical, Mental, Emotional, Relational, Financial, and Vocational.Like all of Saddleback’s campaigns, this one is the complete package and is a true church-wide campaign with material for the whole family.

I like Transformed because it will appeal to both the congregation and the crowd (and in many situations to the community as well). Who doesn’t sense the need to change in some way? You can read my full review right here.

How to Get What You Really Want by Andy Stanley is not a brand new series. But this 2017 series has everything you need for a campaign in 2020 or 2021. Although only a four part series, this is a powerfully designed cross-cultural topic that speaks directly to both connected and unconnected people. Like many of North Point's major series, the weekend messages can be found on the series' site (making it easy to preview) and the full content is available on North Point Resources.

I really like this series! If you're looking for a topic that will resonate with unconnected people and a small group study that is easy to lead, you'll like How to Get What You Really Want.

Know What You're For is a new 5 week study by Jeff Henderson. Henderson is the pastor of Gwinnett Church (one of the campuses of North Point Ministries) and author of Know What You're For (published in 2019). In the message series and in the study, Henderson points out God is FOR the people in our world. He is FOR breaking down unnecessary barriers that keep people away from experiencing his love. And as his followers, he calls us to be spouses, parents, friends, leaders, and employees who do the same.

While this may seem like an insider topic at first glance, there may be no more important topic than this one if you want your congregation and crowd to make a difference in your city. You can watch the trailer for the series right here (and also sign up to see all 5 videos free).
