Top 10 Reasons to Abandon Small Group Ministry

Share via:

Ever get pressure to give up on small group ministry?  Find yourself in the middle of a dark night of the soul agonizing about what just happened?  Here are my top 10 reasons to just throw in the towel and end it now:

10. Information much easier to deliver in a classroom setting

9.  Not everyone experiences Life-change

8.  We had a whole group leave the church

7.  10% of population is very committed to Sunday School

6.  7 leaders out of a 100 unknowingly teach heresy

5.  Too hard to find qualified leaders

4.  The senior pastor isn’t in a group

3.  Bob had a bad experience

2.  .5 leaders out of a 100 knowingly teaches heresy

And the #1 reason to abandon small group ministry?

Here are a few of the articles that explain how to counter the top 10 reasons to abandon small group ministry:

Thanks Reid! I’m sure you’d have some good reasons to add to my list!

Well said Mark. Good format. All of these simple repetative faux group busters can be debunked by using resources, experienced people, prayer, and by thinking through the objections woith the mind that God gave you. Fun approach. Steve

good list Mark. One of my big negatives is the cringe worthy formats that creep into small groups. Didn’t realise you knew Bob too!! Be blessed and keep it coming.
